NOTE THE LOCATION OF THIS NEW STREET IN BRIGG

Pictured here is the newest street name in Brigg. Please note its location in case someone stops you to seek directions.
Betula Close, a cul-de-sac containing new detached properties, is located to the west of the long-established Newlands estate.
The close is also near to the allotments on Atherton Way and to the Donkey Field children's play area.
Housing development has taken place on a parcel of previously disused land.
Last time Brigg Blog featured this close its nameplate had still to be erected.
We paid a visit soon after reporting the installation of Falcon Way signage off Bridge Street - this being the entry/exit point for a Keigar company estate where more than 60 homes are being erected and where site work continues.
Betulah is a Latin name for birch, and the close's entrance/exit connects with Almond Grove.
Using a tree-related name here is a good choice, as Newlands includes Birch Avenue, Elm Way, Ash Grove and Cherry Tree Avenue. Construction of this estate for Brigg Urban District Council began in the mid-1930s on land purchased from a Yorkshire brewery.
Betula is a family name of 30-plus species of trees, many being varieties of birch, but also including, alder, hornbeam and others.
While taking the picture seen here showing some of the Betula Close properties from Atherton Way (beyond the allotments) we are approached by driver who inquired if he was on the right track for Europa Way, Ancholme Business Park. Thankfully, he didn't have far to go to complete his journey.
Now Betula Way has street signage in place, this will help people who are seeking particular addresses, the postcode being DN20 8FQ.
