SOLEMN CEREMONY IN BRIGG ON THE EVE OF THE QUEEN'S FUNERAL

Brigg people of all ages gathered in the town centre for a Moment of Reflection and a Candelit Vigil, on the eve of The Queen's funeral.
Our Town Council asked residents to meet up for the solemn ceremony in the Market Place last night (Sunday, September 18).
They were welcomed from the Bandstand by Coun Brian Parker, the Town Mayor.
Coun Ann Eardley - the longest-serving member of the Town Council - then sounded a whistle to begin one minute's silence at 8pm in memory of Her Majesty.
Keith Simpson, the Town Mayor's Chaplain, read Psalm 23 - The Lord Is My Shepherd.
Those in attendance then joined together for The Lord's Prayer, which was followed by Coun Parker reading the official Proclamation formally announcing the succession of King Charles III.
It was followed by Brigg residents singing The National Anthem, ending with God Save The King.
Among those who assembled in the town centre last night were local representatives of the Humberside Fire & Rescue Service and Humberside Police, former members of Her Majesty's Armed Forces (medals being worn), councillors and staff from Brigg Town Council, and the Brigg & Wolds Ward councillors from the North Lincolnshire authority.
Similar ceremonies were held by communities across the UK.
The Queen's State Funeral is being held in London today (Monday, September 19).
TV coverage will be watched in homes across Brigg and also on large screens located in a number of local licensed premises.
