As the cricket season nears its conclusion Brigg Blog reflects on what has been an interesting virtually rain-free campaign for local teams in this hot and dry summer.
In the Lincolnshire County League, Brigg Town, Broughton 1sts and Broughton 2nds all have one match still to play, while Hibaldstow 1sts have two coming up.
Hibaldstow 2nds were in action on the final day of the Mick Walker North Lindsey League season yesterday (Sunday, September 4). And their match proved to be very high scoring.
Outcasts 3rds rattled up 244 for seven on their Hirst Priory ground near Crowle, with Hibaldstow making 190 for seven in reply.
Hibaldstow all-rounder Tom Taylor was unbeaten on 98 at the end of the 40th and final over, having earlier taken three wickets for 23 runs.
This was the only North Lindsey game played yesterday.
Hibaldstow end the campaign at the foot of Division Two, with Broughton 3rds one place above them, having already completed their programme.
Alkborough 2nds finished top of this section with Outcasts 3rds the runners up.
