POSITIVE SIGNS AT THE NEW BRIGG ALLOTMENTS SITE

It was heartening to see some topsoil now evident on the site of new allotments in Brigg.
This project has been delayed for various reasons, including the onset of the Covid emergency period, but work has resumed.
These progress pictures were taken from the Preston Drive entrance to the allotments site on Thursday (September 8).
New plots are being created on land between Hawthorn Avenue and South View Avenue which was previously part of Woodbine Park.
Post-war prefab bungalows stood here until demolition more than 50 years ago.
The new allotments site will replace a long-established one a few hundred yards away off Grammar School Road, where North Lincolnshire Council has earmarked the land, near Atherton Way, for future development.
The new Woodbine plots, once made available to tenants growing their own fruit & veg, will be managed by Brigg Town Council.
At the town authority's next meeting, towards the end of this month, an update on the Woodbine allotments project will be given.
Brigg Town Council's other allotments site, close to Redcombe Lane and Atherton Way, is unaffected by the changes being made near the Springbank estate.
