Approval has been given for new flats to be created in Brigg town centre, within the conservation area.
North Lincolnshire Council has now given listed building consent and planning permission to permit the conversion of old buildings located behind Gracie's Cafe and near to the Lord Nelson Hotel's beer garden and the Angel car park.
In March an application was submitted to convert a former butcher's abattoir and outbuildings to create two one-bedroom residential studio flats.
This scheme has now been approved and will include vehicular access and on-site parking.
A council assessment report said the the proposal would result in the re-use and conversion (including repair and restoration) of listed buildings for residential purposes.
"This will ensure the sensitive and sympathetic renovation of these buildings and will secure their long-term future and maintenance," the report stressed.
North Lincolnshire Council's conservation officer had no objection to the proposed scheme, as it would find a use for the empty (listed) outbuildings.
Brigg Town Council was also consulted as part of the planning process and supported the proposal, saying it would enhance this area.
Brigg Blog is aware of considerable demand for living accommodation within, and close to, the town centre with its range of amenities, especially properties where designated parking is provided.
