The opening day of the 2022/23 local football season produced mixed results for Brigg and district teams yesterday (Saturday, September 3).
Briggensians won 3-2 away to Santon in Division Two of the EC Surfacing Ltd Scunthorpe & District League - courtesy of two goals from Ben Lingard and one from Jamie Jickells.
Barnetby United lost 6-0 at home to Barton Town Reserves in the first round of the Lincolnshire Junior Cup at the railway village's Silver Street venue.
Barton, from the Lincolnshire Football League, proved far too strong for their Scunthorpe League hosts.
