Brigg Blog's thanks go to Ken Harrison for 30 pictures seen here from the recent Civic Service 2022 and accompanying social gathering at one of the town's eateries.
Over many years successive Mayors, as the community's first citizens, have hosted such events.
Current Town Mayor Coun Brian Parker and his wife Jane, the Mayoress, kept this tradition going in July 2022.
Mayor's Chaplain Keith Simpson, organist Roger Hall and the Church Singers assisted with the service.
Fellow town councillors, staff and Mayors from other areas accepted Coun Parker's invitation to attend, and many members of the public were also present at St John's Church.
Among the civic heads was Coun John Briggs, from Crowle, the Mayor of North Lincolnshire.
Various local groups, societies and charities were also represented.
Refreshments were served at the Cafe Courtyard on the ground floor of the Angel building in the town centre.
Civic Services were held in Brigg during the 1960s when the Urban District Council was still operating and Canon Roger Chappell was the vicar based at St John's.
However, we think there had been others in the 1950s, and possibly in earlier decades.
