WEEKEND SPORTS PREVIEW: LOCAL DERBY FOR BRIGG TOWN


Brigg Town Football Club's pre-season programme continues with a short trip to Bottesford Town by the first team for a friendly fixture tomorrow (Saturday, July 16). This local derby will kick off at 1pm.
Brigg Town Development have a pre-season game later that afternoon away to Armthorpe Development.
Brigg Town cricketers find themselves without a match in Lincolnshire League Division Three West, as is also the case for leaders Broughton 2nds.
Broughton 1st XI - fifth in Division One - will host Messingham, the team immediately above them in the table, at the Recreation Ground tomorrow (1pm start).
Hibaldstow will hope to move back into the top half of the table with a good points haul from their Division Two fixture at Nettleham 2nds.
Hibaldstow's ground will be the venue for a Division Three West encounter between Scunthorpe Town 3rds and Outcasts 2nds.
Local teams will be in action in Mick Walker North Lindsey Cricket League Division Two on Sunday (July 17).
Broughton 3rds are at home to Normanby Park 2nds, while Hibaldstow 2nds entertain Scunthorpe Town 4ths. These games commence at 1.30pm.
Saturday morning will see the next Ancholme Valley Way 5k Parkrun starting in Brigg at 9am from near the Ancholme Way Bridge, heading north alongside the river.
Last week's run - the 22nd in this popular series - attracted 127 competitors.
