FORMER BRIGG SCHOOL BOARDING HOUSE REVAMP CONSIDERED BY COUNCILLORS

Brigg Town Council has raised no objections to partial window/door replacement on all floors at Sir John Nelthorpe School's former pupil boarding house (now used for other educational purposes) near Grammar School Road.
The Town Council has been consulted as part of a planning application relating to the tall building which dates back to the 1870s and the era of Brigg Grammar School.
Chairing the latest meeting of the authority's Planning & Environment Committee, held in the Angel Suite Lounge, Coun Sharon Riggall said an old building was being improved.
North Lincolnshire Council will decide the application for what is now known as Block D at the comprehensive school, in due course.
A Design & Access Statement, drawn up by architects, explained the current single-glazed windows would be replaced by Accoya timber-framed double-glazed windows to match the existing size and type.
The report said: "The installation of double glazing will contribute to improving the overall thermal performance of the Block D building. It is envisaged that this will have an additional benefit of reducing heating costs and improved comfort to room users."
Accoya timber-framed windows and doors offer "exceptional durability and a minimum life expectancy of 60 years."
