Brigg Blog sends congratulations to a local cricket team on breaking its duck yesterday (Sunday, July 17).
Broughton 3rds won their first game of the season in Mick Walker North Lindsey League Division Two - in their sixth fixture.
Skipper Scott Pashley led the way with a boundary-laden 51 on a very hot afternoon as his side defeated Normanby Park 2nds.
We believe this was his first half-century in local league cricket.
Scott and opening partner Sam Hayton, who scored 20, gave Broughton a good start in yesterday's home fixture before Ben Fish added 34 and Alex Heath an unbeaten 20 in a total of 201 for eight.
Normanby were then restricted to 165 for six in their 40 overs by a Broughton attack which featured eight bowlers.
Six maidens (no runs from the bat) were managed by the home side - one being sent down by Andrew Hillyard who toiled his way through seven overs to take one for 31.
Broughton 2nds remain at the foot of the table - the team immediately above them being Hibaldstow 2nds who hosted Scunthorpe Town 4ths yesterday in a real run-fest.
Town rattled up a huge 314 for seven. Despite this onslaught, home opener Jason Scatcherd still returned impressive figures - three for 37 from 10 overs.
Hibaldstow responded with 165 for three - Chris Nash retiring on 52 and Tom Taylor scoring 49.
