BRIGG & DISTRICT SPORTS PREVIEW: TOWN FOOTBALLERS & CRICKETERS IN ACTION

Brigg Town Football Club will be kicking off an extensive programme of pre-season friendlies this weekend, with all our local cricket teams also in action and dozens of runners taking part in the next 5K Ancholme Valley Way Parkrun along the riverside from Brigg at 9am tomorrow.
There's an early trip over the Humber Bridge in prospect for Brigg Town FC who visit Beverley Town on Saturday (July 2), the start time being 11am at Hull University on a 4G pitch.
The Zebras are building up to the start of the 2022/23 season in Toolstation Northern Counties East Division One at the end of the month, and Beverley will be among the teams in this section.
In Lincolnshire County Cricket League Division Three West, Brigg Town CC make the short trip to play Messingham 2nds on Saturday (1pm).
Skippered this season by Danny Bradley (pictured above) Town will be hoping to build on last weekend's welcome win and gain sufficient points to climb off the foot of the table.
Broughton 2nds, who are ranked second in this section of the competition at present, journey to Caistor 2nds.
Broughton 1st XI have a home fixture against lowly-placed Clee Town Laportes in Division One, while Hibaldstow 1sts will host Holton-le-Clay 2nds - one of the teams below them in Division Two.
Sunday (July 3) will see Hibaldstow 2nds away to Normanby Park 2nds in Mick Walker North Lindsey League Division Two (2pm).
There were 79 competitors in the Parkrun held last Saturday (June 25) with a dozen-or-so personal best times recorded. View the full results here...
On Tuesday, July 5 the annual Briggensians' rounders match will be held at Brigg Rec, from 6.30pm.
Touch rugby has resumed at the Rec on Wednesdays, from 6pm.
