BRIGG TOWN FOOTBALL AND CRICKET CLUBS AT HOME THIS WEEKEND

Brigg Town Football Club and the Town Cricket Club both have home fixtures coming up this weekend, giving sports fans the opportunity to watch two on the same day.
Tomorrow (Saturday, July 9) the footballers continue their pre-season programme with an attractive friendly against old rivals Winterton Rangers at the EC Surfacing Stadium (Hawthorns), kicking off at 3pm.
Both sides play in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League - Rangers in the top flight and the Zebras in Division One.
When they met in a County Cup final at Scunthorpe United's ground towards the end of last season, Brigg lifted the trophy.
Brigg Town FC beat Hessle 4-1 in Wednesday night's pre-season home friendly.
At the nearby Recreation Ground tomorrow, Brigg Town's cricketers will be hosting Broughton 2nds in a local derby, starting at 1pm.
Broughton lead Lincolnshire County Cricket League Division Three West, while Town are hoping to gain sufficient points to move off the foot of the table.
That may well depend on the result of a match being played at Hibaldstow, where second-from-bottom Caistor 2nds meet Scunthorpe Town 3rds.
After the full-time whistle has sounded at Brigg Town FC, the cricket match at the Rec is likely to have plenty of overs still to be bowled.
So there's an opportunity for people to watch some football AND cricket.
In Division One, fifth-placed Broughton 1st XI journey south to take on lowly Louth 2nds.
Saturday will see Hibaldstow playing on an historic ground in Lincoln which has hosted many Lincolnshire Minor Counties fixtures and some cup-ties against first class teams over the years.
The North Lincs villagers will be in action against Lindum 3rds at the city's impressive Lindum Ground - both teams being mid-table at present.
Sunday (July 10) will see local teams in Mick Walker North Lindsey League Division Two action, from 1.30pm.
Hibaldstow 2nds will be in the Isle of Axholme taking on Outcasts 3rds at picturesque Hirst Priory, near Crowle.
Broughton 3rds visit Scunthorpe Town 4ths at Heslam Park, off Ashby Road (also the home of Scunthorpe Rugby Union Club).
Tonight (Friday) at Sir John Nelthorpe School a students' cricket team will be playing a Briggensians XI (ex-pupils) in the annual Youth v Experience friendly (6pm).
The Ancholme Valley Way Parkrun series, which launched in February, continues this Saturday morning with competitors gathering near the Ancholme Way Bridge in Brigg for a 9am start and then using the 5k riverside course.
The 21st Parkrun was enjoyed by more than competitors last Saturday (July 2) with many personal best times recorded. View full details here...
These Parkruns attract competitors from a wide area - all potential users of local businesses while they are in town, giving a boost to the local economy.
