Unprecedented heatwave temperatures approached 100F in Brigg yesterday and it's going to get even hotter today (Tuesday, July 19) with three-figures being reached this afternoon, forecasts suggest.
Brigg does not have an official weather station like some towns and cities in the UK but 'apps' available to mobile phone users are indicating local conditions.
Brigg Blog kept a watchful eye on these yesterday when 37C (98.6C) was indicated late in the afternoon.
Today there are suggestions that 39C (102.2C) will be the peak temperature around 4pm, with the landmark 100F being attained around 3pm.
Thoughts turned to those working outside in Brigg yesterday.
Wearing sweatshirts and shorts, Royal Mail 'posties'- based at the sorting office on Bigby Street - were out and about well before 8am when the air temperature already neared 27C (80F).
Many Brigg residents on foot opted to do their shopping earlier than usual so they could return home before the heat kicked in with a vengeance.
At 35C the temperature outside the Marmaris fast food outlet on Wrawby Street on Monday morning was on a par with that recorded in the popular coastal resort in Turkey whose name it shares.
A contract company's bin lorry crew made an early morning call at Wetherspoon's on Wrawby Street yesterday, to collect materials for recycling.
Please remember that North Lincolnshire Council (understandably) has cancelled brown bin (garden waste) collections in Brigg today but will still be emptying burgundy bins (containing plastic and cardboard) this morning.
Overnight temperatures in Brigg also reached record levels and the same will apply tonight.
However, forecasters say much lower temperatures will apply on Wednesday.
