MIDWEEK BRIGG NEWS ROUND-UP & REFLECTIONS

Tickets are now on sale for an 'all you can eat' Thai buffet night being hosted by a Brigg pub.
This will take place at the Britannia Inn, Wrawby Street, on Saturday, July 30.
There will be sessions from 4pm to 2pm and from 7pm to 10pm.
The event is ticket only - the cost being £15.
Inquire at the bar in The Brit for tickets and further information.

Local people who like to bag a bargain might wish to note details of a forthcoming Ladies' Fashion Show & Pop Up Shop.
"Shop for your favourite high street brands at 50 per cent off or more," is the advice from the organisers.
Macmillan Cancer Support will receive all proceeds from the event on Friday, September 9 at Scawby Village Hall, West Street, from 7pm.
Tickets cost £6, refreshments will be available and a prize raffle is being arranged.

A bit of patience would be appreciated from local drivers using council car parks in Brigg if they are kept waiting to key in registration numbers for tickets.
Some people visiting the town from other areas do not realise there's a long-standing free car parking concession, courtesy of the North Lincolnshire authority.
We queued patiently behind this driver (not a local) for some time at one of the Old Courts Road parking meters before eventually stepping in to explain there was no need to feed in any cash for a shortish midweek stay.
The visiting motorist was pleasantly surprised to learn no charge applied. But she had failed to appreciate this was the case.
Additional signage to explain the free concession to drivers who are not from the Brigg area has been suggested previously, and we still think it would be a welcome improvement.

Work is now well under way to refurbish the former Brigg Town Hall on Cary Lane.
North Lincolnshire Council wants to use the purpose-built Brigg urban authority premises erected in the early 1970s.
This follows Hewson House on Station Road being declared surplus to requirements and staff being relocated to other buildings in municipal ownership.
Planning approval has been given to install a new front porch near the entrance to the property.
An extension will be added at the back, in due course, to provide four toilet cubicles - replacing facilities inside.

This building faces the Tesco store in Brigg where one of the two glass entrance doors (near the ATM machines) has now been out of action for some time.
It means that all shoppers entering and leaving the premises are having to use the remaining one which is still functioning.
However, the other door being out of action over the weekend was good news for local Scouts who were located in front of it while making a collection in aid of an overseas trip. This was an ideal spot in terms of 'footfall' as people came in and out of the store.
