BRIGG AREA ON THE ROUTE OF EXTENSIVE NEW PIPELINE

An important new water-carrying underground pipeline which will run near Brigg - close to Bigby High Road - is now seeking local approval.
Anglian Water Services has applied for planning permission for its proposed 52km Elsham to Lincoln pipeline scheme and associated above-ground infrastructure
at Elsham Water Treatment Works.
A supporting statement supplied to North Lincolnshire Council, our local planning authority, explains: "Anglian Water is creating approximately 500 kilometres of new, interconnecting pipelines to help combat the impact of climate change and keep fresh, clean water flowing across the region.
"There will be 20 pipelines (schemes) in total, running from Lincolnshire in the north to Essex in the south of the region."
The majority will be installed using an open-cut trench method, with trenchless techniques (such as directional drilling) proposed at major road, rail and river crossings.
Following topsoil stripping and completion of works, Anglian Water will endeavour to restore the area to the same condition that previously existed.
The pipeline will run south from a proposed new covered reservoir and pumping station at Elsham (to the east of the existing Elsham Water Treatment Works) to an existing pumping facility at Waddington.
A new nitrate plant and associated infrastructure is proposed within the existing Elsham Water Treatment Works alongside a new pumping station and reservoir to be constructed at a site immediately to the east.
A map supplied with the application shows that the proposed route is mainly in open countryside.
South from Elsham, the pipeline will pass Wrawby and Kettleby, the A1084 near Brigg, then run to the west of Cadney before continuing to the Lincoln area via Waddingham and Snitterby.
Permission is being sought from North Lincolnshire Council, West Lindsey District Council, City of Lincoln Council and North Kesteven District Council.
North Lincolnshire's public consultation period for the application will close on July 27.
