LAST CHANCE TO VISIT SPECIAL EXHIBITION IN BRIGG BY WELL-KNOWN LOCAL CHARITY

We hope those people who have yet to take a look at a free-to-visit exhibition at the Buttercross in Brigg town centre will do so before it ends late this afternoon (Saturday, August 7).
Since Thursday, Jerry Green Dog Rescue, which has a sanctuary within Broughton parish, has been marking the 60th anniversary of its foundation by generous businessman and benefactor Jerry Green in 1961. Many thousands of down-on-their-luck animals have been cared for since then.
Some impressive paintings and drawings are on sale at the Buttercross, with guide prices indicated on each. Old pictures are also on display.
Raffle tickets are being sold to help the charity, with sizeable cash prizes for the lucky winners. You are also free to make a donation for this worthy cause.
Brigg Blog searched through its own archives yesterday morning and found some information from the early 1960s relating to the foundation of the charity and the ceremony when the first stone was laid on its site. We took these items along and have donated them to Jerry Green's. They generated considerable interest and have helped add to the recorded knowledge of the charity's early years.
The first dog to be cared for was indeed Lucky!
Visit the exhibition today between 9am and 4pm on the upper floor of the Buttercross, in the Market Place (use the side door and then the staircase or the lift).
Jerry Green Dog Rescue has a fundraising shop on Springs Parade, Brigg. Donations are always welcome, as are customers hunting for bargains.
