Brigg is now eagerly awaiting the judge's verdict to learn how the town has done in the prestigious East Midlands in Bloom competition.
Brigg Town Council's latest meeting received an update from Coun Sharon Riggall, chair of the Brigg in Bloom group, whose volunteers have again been busy this year with planting and tending various displays, as well as undertaking tidying duties.
Coun Riggall said the judge had made an extensive tour of the town, which was looking tidy. Local volunteers had worked hard, with the public giving fine support.
The regional result will be announced in September.
Coun Riggall was thanked at the meeting in the Buttercross by Town Mayor Coun Brian Parker.
Brigg Blog ventured out at the weekend to take a couple of suitable pictures to accompany this 'blooming' update.
A keen and helpful gardener we met near the main car park drew our attention to a colourful display in a prominent location outside Brigg Police Station, on Barnard Avenue, the A18 (pictured above).
Nearby, adjoining the Old Courts Road traffic lights, is a wildflower-seeded bed sponsored by Brigg District Lions which caught our eye. It's good to see provision being made for bees and other insects.
We think the regional competition was cancelled last year due to the Covid emergency. However, in 2019 the town received a silver runners-up award.
Hopefully this year we can go for gold!
