BRIGG'S MOST SUCCESSFUL SUNDAY FOOTBALL CLUB REVEALED

Memories of Brigg football teams of the past will come flooding back for many followers of our blog today following very detailed research by Barnetby United official Lee Fielden, who is a keen historian when it comes to The Beautiful Game at local level.
Lee kicks off his review with a complete list of Scunthorpe Sunday League teams from Brigg and adjoining Scawby Brook for the period 1966 to 2000.
He informs us: "Britannia Inn are the only Brigg side to win the First Division."

Lee's list follows our recent post about the town's Black Bull pub fielding a team in the Paul Fox Scunthorpe Sunday League for the 2021/22 campaign.

And also our personal memories of Brigg teams of the late 20th century which included a picture of Black Bull squad members in the mid-1980s.
In a future post we will be using further archive information provided by Lee to look in greater detail at the period 1970-2000, with particular reference to final league tables from various seasons.
