CHRISTMAS FEST TO FORM PART OF SHOWPIECE SHOPPING EVENT IN BRIGG

Brigg will be seeing something different this year as part of its showpiece event in the run up to Christmas.
The traditional late November/early December Friday evening festive fair with indoor and outdoor stalls will not be taking place on Friday, December 3 under the direction of volunteers from a local charity group who have done a great job over many years. They are unable to stage it this year.
However, the switching on of the extensive Christmas illuminations and the late night shopping will go ahead - on THURSDAY evening, November 25, together with a "Christmas-themed fest."
Brigg Town Council provides the lights and Brigg Town Business Partnership will co-ordinate the pre-Christmas shopping.
Further details will be announced nearer the time.
Last year's Coronavirus emergency restrictions meant the festive fair had to be cancelled, with the 2020 lights being switched on by the Town Mayor standing on her own in the Market Place instead of taking to a temporary stage near the Angel with other VIPs for the button-pressing ceremony. A 'live feed' via Facebook showed the illuminations coming on.
In normal times (and over many years) the Friday festive fair/market, lights switch on and late night shopping have provided Brigg with its biggest annual spectator event in terms of attendances.
Another big turn-out can be expected for the Thursday evening 'do' this year.
Hopefully, by then, the virus emergency will be long gone.
