YELLOW LINES ABOUT TO BE PAINTED ON BRIGG ROAD TO DETER PARKING
Yellow lines - restricting parking - should be installed on a Brigg street in the very near future.
As part of a programme to resurface many suburban roads which began in mid-July, the long-standing yellow lines on St Helen's Road, near the junction with Bigby Road, were removed.
The resurfacing was completed many weeks ago. But, surprisingly, the yellow lines have still to be restored.
This has resulted in some drivers being able to park vehicles on a stretch of road that should be out of bounds to them.
It's something of a 'blind' corner for drivers heading towards the level crossing from the Monument roundabout and turning left into St Helen's Road.
In addition to the yellow lines on St Helen's Road that still need to be replaced, there's another small task to be undertaken to complete the welcome resurfacing project in this part of the town.
Temporary signs erected to warn motorists about the temporary absence of road markings have still to be taken down many weeks after the white dotted lines were restored. See the picture below, where King's Avenue meets St Helen's Road.
Meanwhile, North Lincolnshire Council, as the local highway authority, is proposing further yellow lines to deter parking on Dudley Road, while removing some on a short stretch of Forrester Street.
Brigg Blog has always been surprised that parking IS permitted along much of the A18 on Wrawby Road and on the A1084 on Bigby Road, close to The Cedars on the approach to the Monument.
Parked vehicles on very busy A-roads do not help the free flow of traffic.
