PAYBACK TIME: OFFENDERS COULD CARRY OUT COMMUNITY WORK TO BENEFIT BRIGG

Brigg Town Council is to submit a list of tasks it considers could be carried out locally by offenders ordered by the courts to undertake  Community Service.
This is in response to correspondence about 'Community Payback' which the council received on behalf of the Humberside Police & Crime Commissioner, Coun Jon Evison.
Previously known as Community Service but now re-purposed by the Government as Community Payback, this scheme assigns offenders who have committed crimes to work on projects which benefit communities. All the unpaid work is supervised.
Brigg Town Council is suggesting that repainting of metal railings at various locations in the town should be undertaken, together with planting bulbs.
Having been informed that the radiators at St John's Church require painting, the council felt this would make a suitable addition.
Confirmation about this task is awaited from the Parochial Church Council, which will be informed of the council's suggestion.
Some months ago the new Humberside Police & Crime Commissioner, who is from Barton, gave a presentation to the Town Council about his work and intentions during one of its meetings.
