BRIGG VENUE HOSTS ITS FIRST SESSION

 

Brigg Town Council switched to a new venue for its latest monthly meeting.
It is located next to the authority's office on the top floor of the Angel building.
To mark the occasion we took this picture from public seating available at the back of the room.
Town Mayor Coun Brian Parker (wearing his chain of office) is seen chairing the session.
On the left are Coun Jane Kitching, Coun Ann Eardley and Coun Rob Waltham (nearest the camera).
Seen on the right are Coun Carl Sherwood, Coun Jane Gibbons, Coun Sharon Riggall and Town Clerk Kerry McGrath (near the Mayor).
Coun Penny Smith was also present and opted to take a seat next to us in the public area. So we've included her as an inset (top left).
The Town Mayor's Chaplain, Keith Simpson, was also in attendance 'For the Purpose of Prayer'.
Coun Nigel Sherwood was unable to make this meeting and tendered his apologies.
Nine elected members serve on the town authority.
Other than Brigg Blog and the Chaplain, no members of the public were at the meeting on Tuesday, March 22.
The council's next will be held on Tuesday, April 26, starting at 7.15pm.
Entry to Room S02, as it is officially known, is gained through the archway adjoining the Angel's rear car park.
Go to the end of the courtyard and enter the building through the door on the left.
Stairs and a lift then give access to the top floor.
Room S02 is at the front of the building and overlooks the Market Place.
Brigg Town Council had been meeting in the function room on the first floor of the Buttercross - somewhat larger than Room S02.
Prior to that its main venues since formation in 1974 were Glanford Borough Council's debating chamber off Station Road (until the mid-1990s) and then the Angel Suite.
A few meetings have also taken place at the Corn Exchange (since demolished) and Brigg Methodist Church.
