A North Lincolnshire Council decision is pending on a plan to build housing at a pub & restaurant within the Brigg & Wolds Ward.
The Planning Committee, comprising elected councillors from across the district, will consider this application during a meeting next week.
Outline approval is being sought to erect six semi-detached dwellings with associated works at The Haymaker, 75 Main Street, Bonby, DN20 0PY.
The village pub (pictured above) later became a steak house restaurant but is not currently in commercial use. It was advertised for sale some time ago.
A very detailed report has been prepared ahead of the meeting to be held in Scunthorpe on Wednesday, March 9.
Planning staff are recommending that the committee grants permission.
The report suggests that despite one offer being made "the existing use of The Haymaker as a public house/restaurant is no longer commercially viable."
Bonby Parish Council has lodged an objection to approval being given, the report notes, with 31 other objections being received and one respondent expressing support for the proposal.
North Lincolnshire Council says there is 'significant public interest' in this application
The Planning Committee meeting at Church Square House, Scunthorpe High Street, is open to interested members of the public.
This session starts at 2pm and will be chaired by Coun Nigel Sherwood (Brigg & Wolds).
The committee will also be considering an outline application to erect three dwellings on land to the north of Habrough Lane, Kirmington.
Options open to the committee when considering applications are granting or refusing permission, or opting to make site visits with decisions being taken later.
