INCREDIBLE AID RESPONSE IN BRIGG AND ELSEWHERE TO HELP UKRAINE REFUGEES

Since the middle of last week, many people in Brigg have donated items via the town centre's Angel Suite to help refugees from Ukraine who have fled their country because of the current conflict.
Although further donation sessions were due to follow early this week, North Lincolnshire Council has had to suspend operations in Brigg and other places.
In an update issued over the weekend, the authority said: "Thank you to the people of North Lincolnshire for their overwhelming generosity. The response for humanitarian aid for the people of Ukraine has been incredible. The collection points are full to capacity and collections are currently suspended whilst staff deal with the enormous amount of donations received."
Items requested included baby food and new baby clothes, duvets, blankets, bedding and sleeping bags in new (or excellent) condition, first-aid kits, toiletries and non-perishable food such as rice and pasta.
Brigg resident Andrew Markham took the above pictures in the Angel Suite on Saturday while donated items were being sorted.
"As with everything in this town of ours, people have been very generous," he stressed. "The Rotary Club are doing a monetary collection on Saturday at Tesco."
A convoy of 30 lorries will be leaving northern Lincolnshire later this week to deliver donated items to Poland, to benefit refugees from the Ukraine.
North Lincolnshire Council has supplied this link through which local people can find details relating to monetary donations and other ways to help those in need.
People can also contribute through local charities, such as Oxfam which has shops on Wrawby Street.
