HOPES GROW FOR PROGRESS ON NEW BRIGG ALLOTMENTS SITE

Any day now it is hoped there will be positive news forthcoming about completing the new allotments project in Brigg.
Work will be re-starting in due course on the site which is re-purposing part of Woodbine Park between Hawthorn Avenue and South View Avenue, with access from Preston Drive. The question is: When?
The plots will be used by tenants growing their own fruit and veg on plots rented from Brigg Town Council which is working with the North Lincolnshire authority on this project.
Meanwhile, tenants will continue to use the long-established Grammar School Road allotments during this year's "growing season" while the alternative land is made ready.
The existing site, not far from the M180 flyover, is required for future redevelopment.
The Woodbine Park allotments were discussed during the recent Annual Town Public Meeting, held in the Buttercross, with some plot-holders in attendance.
Coun Rob Waltham, who serves on both local authorities, gave an update and suggested that a further meeting should now be held with tenants.
There have been unexpected delays in preparing the new site - pictured here earlier this week with the area still fenced off and work on the final phase yet to get under way.
