BRIGG SUGGESTIONS FOR WALKING AND CYCLING ROUTES DURING LOCKDOWN 3 DAILY EXERCISE

Brigg people are getting out and about on foot or two wheels for their permitted period of daily exercise under the government's latest Lockdown 3 measures now backed by Parliament and sanctioned to remain in force until mid-February when the Coronavirus situation will be reviewed.
Likely to prove a particularly popular choice over the coming weeks is the Ancholme Way footpath & cycle way - running north close to the river from the centre of town towards Horkstow. One of its attractions is a hard core surface which can be used while conditions are frosty or following periods of rain or even snow.
The recently created picnic area opposite Glanford Boat Club can be used to take a breather, having heavy duty seating. This facility has been installed by Brigg Town Council.
When the initial 'hard' lockdown was with us last spring, the warmer months of the year were approaching. This made grassy public footpaths attractive to local people, including over the fields from Churchill Avenue to Tongs Farm in Wrawby, and alongside the New River Ancholme heading south from cake mills bridge to Pool End. Brigg Blog posted a feature about suggested walks during Lockdown 1.
The route from Brigg along Wrawby Road to the village also offers decent footing, and has been a joint cycle-pedestrian way for many years. There's an option to turn this into a circular walk by using Brickyard Lane in Wrawby, which connects with Grammar School Road, Brigg, near the M180 flyover.
As a DIY outlet, Brians - on Wrawby Street - has been permitted to stay open under the current measures and its on-site services include cycle repairs for those thinking of taking to two wheels while Lockdown 3 is with us.
As many local children will have received new bikes as Christmas presents, there's an opportunity for families to get out and about together for exercise in the fresh air, especially with many mums and dads currently working from home and their children's schools being instructed to offer distance learning online instead of traditional classroom-based teaching.
Brigg cyclists might consider a circular ride from Brigg along Bigby High Road, Kettleby level crossing to Wrawby - returning to town along the cycle track/path down Wrawby Road.
