Extensive refurbishment of the Riverside Surgery in Brigg is nearing completion and we trust that its many patients will be pleased with this project which represents welcome investment in local health services.
On Sunday (January 10) we stepped inside the new-look premises for the first time - using a central entrance created off the car park to collect a prescription from the pharmacy. Others were doing likewise, while another short (and also supervised) queue of people nearby awaited inoculations.
There was a pleasant surprise for surgery visitors on Sunday; helpful people in 'high vis' attire were temporarily halting traffic heading to and from Tesco so folk could cross the busy entry road shared by the store and the medical centre and make their way to and from the surgery's car park.
This was very welcome, as crossing the entry road on foot near the petrol station can prove difficult at times due to the amount of approaching traffic.
North Lincolnshire Council staff were giving support on "traffic management" while with volunteers were present in and around the building.
Planning permission was granted for an extension to the existing premises to provide minor a surgery theatre and office space. Two subsequent amendments to the scheme were also approved.
