BRIGG TOWN FC v NORTH FERRIBY CANCELLED

Brigg Town Football Club's attractive home game tomorrow (Saturday, January 2) at the EC Surfacing Stadium (Hawthorns) is OFF!
The Zebras were due to host North Ferriby but the government's new toughening of Coronavirus emergency measures has now halted all play in the league to which Brigg's first team belong, although North Lincolnshire remains in the lower banding (Tier 3).
The Toolstation Northern Counties East League announced that, with immediate effect, all matches until at least January 13  will be suspended - a number of member clubs having now been placed "in the highest Tier 4 restriction that forbids non-elite football." The next government review of Covid-19 tiers is due in two weeks' time.
Brigg v North FerribyM over New Year, might well have attracted a sell-out crowd of 150 (restricted to home fans only). Brigg and Ferriby are only 17 miles apart by road via the Humber Bridge. Apart from Winterton Rangers, Ferriby are Brigg's nearest neighbours in Division One.
This has proved to be a stop & start season for Town who have played 11 of their 38 first team league fixtures as we enter the New Year - the last being a Boxing Day home defeat by Skegness which was watched by a sell-out crowd. Brigg are sixth in the table at present.
