PLANS FOR BUILDING AND LAND WITH HISTORIC LINKS

Brigg councillors will get the opportunity later this month to comment on current planning applications relating to locations with historic links.
Brigg Town Council's Planning & Environment Committee will pass on its views to the North Lincolnshire authority which will make decisions on both proposals.
Outline planning permission is being sought for residential development on the Car Sales and Storage Area, Engine Street. The 1.18-hectare (approximately 3-acre) site is close to James Street and Barnard Street. The existing use is sales and storage "plus waste land." Part of the site proposed for housing was occupied long ago by the Victoria Iron Works.
Approval is also being requested to make internal alterations and replace a rear bay window with bifold doors at 2 Manor House Convent, Bigby Street. This forms part of the former Brigg Manor House and Convent School site. Dating back to the 18th century, it is a grade two listed property within the conservation area, so listed building consent is also required in this case.
