MUCH INTEREST BEING SHOWN IN ONLINE BRIGG HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL SERVICE

Much interest is being shown in the first Holocaust Memorial Service in Brigg to be held online rather than beside the memorial on the Millennium Green, off Elwes Street.
The amended format is necessary because of Coronavirus emergency restrictions on public gatherings.
Brigg Town Council is co-ordinating the online service using the Zoom platform, and anyone who wishes to participate and has yet to notify the authority should send an email to enquiries@briggmarkettown.co.uk
The service will be held on Sunday, January 24 (from 4pm) and will be conducted by local lay reader Keith Simpson, who says the prayers at the start of Brigg Town Council meetings and did likewise on Remembrance Sunday last November at the Monument.
People who contact the council to take part in Holocaust Memorial Service 2021 will receive a copy of the service sheet. There will be readings by Andrew Percy, the Brigg & Goole MP, and Coun Sharon Riggall, Brigg Town Mayor.
Rabbi Thomas Salamon will contribute reflections and prayers, and Keith Simpson will conclude the service with a blessing.
Everyone taking part on January 24 is being invited to light a candle during the service.
