BRIGG CONSERVATION AREA TREE CAN BE FELLED

Permission has been granted to remove a tree within the Brigg Conservation Area.
Having received a notice of intention from a member of the public to fell a cherry tree in the garden behind 18 Albert Street, North Lincolnshire Council has now given consent for this work to proceed.
A local authority planning report said that although the top branches could be seen from nearby New Street "it cannot be considered to be a tree that is significant within the street scene or that gives visual amenity to the wider landscape."
Taking this into account, "further protection" by way of making a tree preservation order was not considered appropriate.
The applicant informed the council that the roots had taken over the small garden - ruining the lawn and patio. Previously, the roots had caused a drain blockage.
