Brigg railway station's passenger train service will see some changes this Saturday (December 18) which will apply through late autumn, winter and into the spring.
The new train times now operating in until May 14, 2022 are as follows...
Trains towards Cleethorpes (platform one): 9.13am, 1.27pm and 5.12pm.
Train times towards Sheffield (platform two, beyond the footbridge): 11.47am, 3.43pm and 7.48pm.
Northern operates the Saturdays-only train service through Brigg.
Local folk can change at Barnetby to get trains to other destinations, including Lincoln and Doncaster.
We recently saw some social media footage of Andrew Percy, the Brigg & Goole MP, raising questions in the House of Commons about the sparse service currently operating along the Brigg Line. As he rightly pointed out, someone missing the last passenger train on Saturdays has to wait a week for the next to arrive!
Perhaps, somehow, 2022 will see a very welcome and necessary improvement. Brigg was reduced to a Saturdays-only passenger train service way back in 1993.
People across the UK keep being urged to use public transport to cut down the number of car journeys and therefore help the overall carbon footprint.
More trains running on more days of the week between Sheffield, Brigg and Cleethorpes would help local folk to do their bit.
There has been plenty of talk about providing better rail services. Can we now see some action?
