IS BETTER STREET LIGHTING CALLED FOR AFTER CHRISTMAS IN THIS PART OF BRIGG?

Christmas illuminations in Brigg town centre are currently helping to light and also highlight something of a black spot for local pedestrians.
The attractive and illuminated hanging display, pictured above, near the White Hart and the County Bridge, is presently providing some light to assist those on foot make their way to and from Bridge Street.
However, there is no street lighting on the northern side of this street for a considerable distance; only a lamp midway along the southern stretch - the other side of the road (pictured below during daylight).
Once the long-closed White Hart - currently being refurbished - comes back into use again, its internal lighting, close to the street, might make it easier for pedestrians to see where they are going after dark.
Many people use the path on the northern side, particularly to get to and from the Yarborough Hunt and other destinations.
Things are not too bright on the southern side, either, although some more Christmas illuminations are helping with visibility towards the junction with the A18 (seen in the distance on our picture above).
Perhaps now we've shed light on the situation, someone in authority might be prompted to take a look in the New Year - after the Christmas lights have been taken down - and decide if an additional street light or two is justified in this part of Brigg.
When almost 70 new houses and a block of apartments have been completed on the former Falcon Cycles and Corah factory sites off Bridge Street, there will be additional 'footfall' between Bridge Street, the County Bridge and the Market Place.
