BRIGG TREE OF LIGHT LAUNCH COMPLETED BEFORE THE SNOW ARRIVED

In view of the snow (pictured above left) which fell in Brigg this morning (Thursday, December 2) it is fortunate that the launch of The Tree of Light in the town centre was completed yesterday while conditions were favourable.
This pre-Christmas launch ceremony has suffered at the hands of bad weather in past years, with heavy rain on some occasions; then Covid emergency lockdown was declared.
However, the weather was decent yesterday and Ken Harrison, of Brigg Matters magazine, went along with his camera.
People can buy cards for £2 in memory of loved ones and these messages are placed on the tree, which his year is sited close to the Wrawby Street entrance to St John's Church.
Memory cards are now on sale at the Deli Diner on Wrawby Street, the Wool Shop in the Market Place and St John's Church.
A Book of Remembrance will be available at the Wool Shop.
Yesterday's Tree of Light ceremony was conducted by Keith Simpson, Chaplain to Town Mayor Coun Brian Parker, who was also present.
The tree will remain in place until the closing service at 4pm on January 3, 2022.

An illustrated report about the Tree of Light can be expected in the next issue of Brigg Matters. Our thanks go to Ken Harrison for his pix from the ceremony.
