WELCOME TO BRIGG AND ITS INDIE MARKET THIS WEEKEND

There will be an Indie Market held in Brigg town centre tomorrow (Saturday, July 17) from early morning.
Offering a range of items, the stalls run by independent local traders will supplement those forming the general market (fruit, veg, flowers and fish).
It was heartening to see the number of stalls and shoppers at the general Thursday market held yesterday (Thursday) and the sizeable attendance for the special summer event staged by the Brigg Town Business Partnership in the town centre last Saturday (July 10).
Many people who are not Brigg residents come to town to support general, indie and craft markets, as well as the monthly farmers' showpieces organised by North Lincolnshire Council. Some of these visitors living more than 20 miles from Brigg might be classed as tourists or perhaps day trippers.
In many cases they find out in advance what Brigg has to offer by looking/searching online or perhaps by word of mouth from people they know who have already visited.
But once in Brigg there's often demand for further information about what to see and do. Occasional or first-time visitors may find their way to the tourism & business centre in the Buttercross or to the nearby community hub on the ground floor of the Angel building where the current emphasis is on touch screens with online search facilities to provide visitor information.
But there's no doubt that some visitors still appreciate printed leaflets or booklets outlining local attractions.
With this in mind the Business Partnership produced suitable colourful literature some time ago, and made free copies available from metal boxes at various locations (one being pictured below).
Would it be worth installing some more of these and stocking them not only with Welcome to Brigg leaflets but also others promoting the Scunthorpe steelworks train tours, Normanby Hall, Wrawby Mill, etc?
