NOSTALGIC CONCERT WILL MARK 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF BRIGG SERVICEMEN'S CLUB

Brigg & District Servicemen's Club can at last mark the 100th anniversary of its formation.
The club is able to trace its roots way back to 1920 when Brigg British Legion (later overseeing the club) was officially registered on December 21.
Plans to mark this major milestone had to be suspended late last year because of Coronavirus emergency restrictions and lockdown, but the club stressed that something suitable would be arranged once the situation improved.
So on Saturday, August 28, 2021 (a bank holiday weekend) the Coney Court venue will be hosting 100 Years Celebrations in the evening. All are welcome, the club says, with tickets costing only £5... and that includes a buffet!
A most suitable act has been booked - The Blighty Belles, who specialise in songs that were popular decades ago. They have previously performed at the Servicemen's and will be making a welcome return visit.
In Brigg Servicemen's long history and development, we've opted to illustrate this post with pictures taken during a war-time night of nostalgia at Brigg SMC, organised some years ago by the Brigg Amateur Social Historians (BASH) group, when many people donned 1940s-style clothing.

Hull-based singer Lynette is booked at the Lord Nelson in Brigg this Friday evening (July 9). She will covering well-known songs from six decades. Book a table in advance at this Market Place venue by calling 01652 652127.
