BRIGG TO BE VISITED BY COMPETITION JUDGES TODAY

Volunteers were working hard in Brigg last night ahead of the town being judged for the East Midlands in Bloom competition today (Wednesday, July 14).
Items of litter were being collected and paths checked for weeds in the town centre.
Our picture shows one of the volunteers, Coun Ann Eardley, a former Town Mayor, at work on the County Bridge where the pedestrian area begins. Tubs and planters containing flowers are on and near the bridge.
Brigg is hoping to attain the gold standard for 2021 in this regional competition.
Meanwhile, a new public seat has been installed on Bridge Street.
Constructed from recycled materials and hard-wearing, it has replaced one of traditional design with wooden slats.
Brigg Town Council has a long-running project to improve the public seating provision at various locations.
Our picture shows the new bench on Bridge Street last night with colourful flowers nearby and the Yarborough Hunt pub in the distance.
