THREE BRIGG CONSERVATION AREA TREES CAN BE FELLED

Three trees within the Brigg Conservation Area can be felled, although the Town Council had lodged an objection to two of them being removed.
Having received a notice of intention to fell three holly trees at The Gables on Bigby Road, North Lincolnshire Council decided not to make a tree preservation order (TPO).
Recommending 'No TPO' a unitary authority assessment report said: "These trees are situated within the garden area of the property. The trees are not considered to be significant within the street scene."
Brigg Town Council's latest Planning & Environment Committee meeting discussed this notice of intention at its latest meeting and decided to object to the felling of two of the three trees, suggesting that their removal would be "a detriment to the conservation area."
The Town Council considered the removal of one of them to be acceptable "but strongly objects to the removal of the two furthest from the road." In these cases it suggested pruning rather than removal.
The North Lincolnshire authority's assessment report made reference to this, saying: "The comments from Brigg Town Council are noted, but unfortunately this arrived too late to be considered. The expiry date is 23rd June, after which the resident has the ability to undertake the works as no TPO had been made."
"On this occasion the council has decided not to make a Tree Preservation Order," it said. "You may therefore carry out the work described provided that it is completed within two years."
The picture above, taken recently, shows The Gables on Bigby Road from the other side of the A1084. Note that the trees to be felled "
are situated within the garden area of the property."

When Brigg Town Council's Planning & Environment Committee discussed this matter, several references were made to a number of other conservation area trees that had been proposed for felling in recent years.
