CALL TO REINTRODUCE BRIGG BUS SERVICE

A public transport concern was raised by a former Town Mayor during Brigg Town Council's latest meeting.
Coun Ann Eardley suggested consideration be given to reintroducing a bus service linking Brigg and Barton, saying some people were unable to travel back to Brigg at certain times.
The Stagecoach bus company announced last summer: "Service 450 will be withdrawn after operation on Saturday 29 August 2020 when the North Lincolnshire Council tender comes to an end."
Coun Rob Waltham, who is the North Lincolnshire authority's leader, responded to Coun Eardley's suggestion, saying this was a bus company matter. However, only six people, on average, had previously used the service.
Coun Nigel Sherwood, who also serves on the North Lincolnshire authority, said it would work out cheaper to send people by taxi than reintroducing this bus service!
Coun Waltham added that the JustGo bus service operated 7am to 7pm.
Last September, North Lincolnshire Council, in conjunction with an operating company, launched this new JustGo dial-a-ride bus service across its area - pointing out that it would be available to passengers who had used the 450 service.
