VERY FAMILIAR BRIGG FEATURE TO BE REPLACED

Network Rail is to remove a very familiar feature in Brigg and install a 21st century replacement.
Since Victorian times there has been a wooden-gated level crossing on the A1084, where Bigby Road meets Bigby Road and crosses the tracks. But now it is nearing the end of the line.
We heard that a replacement might be on the cards and checked this out with Network Rail, which manages the infrastructure.
A spokeswoman has now replied to us, saying: "Following your request, I can confirm Network Rail is planning to replace the traditional wooden gates at both Brigg and Northorpe level crossings with modern automatic ones.
"Network Rail has a plan in place to have both crossings renewed by the middle of 2020."
The gated level crossing has suffered periodic gremlins over many years.
Many traditional level crossings were replaced by barriers with flashing lights long ago. But the one in Brigg - and another further down the line at Northorpe - have survived.
Installing the new-style crossing on the busy A1084 in Brigg is obviously going to affect road traffic while the project is undertaken. But Network Rail has yet to outline the date for work to begin.
