BRIGG STREET LIGHTING CONTRACT UNDER WAY
Work is now under way in Brigg to replace elderly concrete lamp-posts.
This is being done for North Lincolnshire Council, the local highway authority.
The picture above was taken yesterday (Monday, October 14) on Burgess Road.
Further replacement lighting columns will be going up over the next couple of weeks on nearby St Helens Road, Kings Avenue, Yarborough Road and Springfield Road at various times.
The contract is due to conclude on October 29. Free flow of vehicular traffic is not expected to be affected.
The concrete lighting columns on Springfield Road (see picture below) are typical of those being replaced by metal poles.
Some years ago this area of Brigg was chosen to pilot LED lights being tried out by North Lincolnshire Council - requiring less 'juice' than the traditional variety.
The pilot scheme was judged to be a success and LED lights duly installed by the council in many streets across its area over several years.
