NEW SPORTS CENTRE IN BRIGG SEEKING EXTRA OPENING HOURS

A new sports centre planned in Brigg wants to amend the opening hours already granted by North Lincolnshire Council.
In mid-September, local authority planners approved change of use of a large building behind the former Nelthorpe Arms pub, off Bridge Street, from office to assemby/leisure.
A condition attached to the planning permission stipulated that Brigg Kickboxing Club's hours of operation would be Monday to Friday, 5pm to 8pm, and that the premises would be closed at weekends and on bank holidays.
However, a further application has now been made seeking the following amended hours of operation...
Kickboxing & associated class: Monday to Friday, 9am to 9pm, Saturday, 10am to 5pm; Sunday and bank holidays, 11am to 4pm.
Club activities: Saturday, noon to 5pm; Sunday and bank holidays, noon to 4pm;
Brigg Kickboxing Club has told the council that its activities include kickboxing classes and associated fitness/strengthening classes. Plus promotional and recruitment days "as required."
The family-run martial arts business is leasing Unit 2, Nelthorpe Arms Business Court and stresses that no changes will be made to the structure or inside of the property.
"We have 100 students of all ages who take part in our classes and we believe it is an asset to the area," the club says.

It explains that, when originally submitted, the trading hours stated were incorrect.
The revised planning application - given a 'valid date' of October 14 by North Lincolnshire Council  - is now under consideration by the local authority. The standard four-week public consultation period applies.
