Brigg Town Business Partnership has compiled this preview of events to come in the run up to Christmas 2019....
Brigg Festival of Christmas Trees and Wreaths/Tree of Light
As Christmas gets closer, the Brigg Town Business Partnership are busy organising events for the Festive Season.
The first of these is the annual Tree of Light which will stand in Chapel Court (just off the Old Courts Car Park). The Tree will be lit from 3.00pm on Saturday November 16th until 3.00pm on Saturday January 4th 2020 with music being played at both events, and is seen as a symbol of hope and comfort for those who find Christmas a sad and lonely time.
This provides an opportunity for all members of the community to place a memory card on it in remembrance of departed loved ones. Cards will be available from Design Orchard; E-Cig; Cure DM; Brigg Carers’ Support; St John’s Church; Brigg Methodist Church; The Deli Diner; Co-op Funeralcare; Naylors Funeral Directors and Brigg Tourist Information Centre.
Raffle tickets will also be available with the winners being announced on Saturday, January 4th. A Book of Remembrance will be situated at The Tourist Information Centre for those who want to record an entry for a loved one in addition to placing a memory card on the tree.
All monies raised will be donated to the Brigg Carers’ Support Centre and The Congenital Myotonic Dystrophy Fight.

Another event, that the Partnership are busy planning is the town’s third Festival of Christmas Trees and Wreaths which will take place at St John’s Church over 2 weekends: Thursday December 12th to Saturday December 14th (10.00am -3.00pm ) and Sunday December 15th (11.00am -3.00pm) and then Thursday December 19th to Saturday December 21st (10.00am – 3.00pm) and Sunday December 22nd (11.00am – 1.00pm) with the Festival closing with a Town Carol Service at 2.00pm with Barnetby Silver Band.
Admission will be free with donations being welcome for St John’s Church.
If you are interested in exhibiting a Tree or Wreath at the Festival, spaces are very limited so please contact the Brigg Town Business Partnership via e-mail briggisbest@gmail.com or call Jane Kitching on 07442 160785.
As part of the Festival, the Nukulees Ukelele Band will be performing in the Church on Friday December 13th at 7.00pm Tickets (£5 each inclusive of light refreshments available from Brigg Tourist Information Centre) and on Saturday December 21st, Brigg Churches Together Choir will perform Graham Kendrick’s ‘The Gift’ in St John’s Church at 7.00pm. Admission is free with donations welcome towards the cost of the evening; however, spaces are limited, so tickets are required which can be obtained from Brigg Tourist Information Centre.

There will be a festive fair, with stalls, organised by Brigg District Lions, plus entertainment arranged by Brigg Town Council which provides the Christmas illuminations. Shops run by members of the Business Partnership will be staying open late into the evening so people can do a spot of Christmas shopping.
