Volunteers in Brigg braved bad weather to support a worthy charity event in the town at the weekend.
Brigg Air Training Corps, Andrew Percy - the Brigg & Goole MP, Coun Rob Waltham - Leader North Lincolnshire Council and local Rotarians planted 3,000 purple crocuses, despite the rain.
This was in support of Brigg Rotary’s Purple4Polio campaign to help eradicate this disease worldwide.
Brigg ATC then went on to plant 500 crocuses/croci on King’s Avenue.
Chris Darlington, the team leader who is co-ordinating local efforts, told Brigg Blog: "We will be planting this week and really could do with some help. If you are interested in helping, please ring 07519 330432."

Purple represents the colour of the dye which is placed on the little finger of a child on mass immunisation days when millions of children in many countries are protected against the disease.
In 1985 when the Rotary movement pledged to eradicate polio there were over 10,000 cases being reported weekly. Since then there has been a huge reduction.
