REMEMBRANCE POPPIES ADORN BRIGG TOWN CENTRE LANDMARK

These pictures show poppies adorning the balcony of the landmark Angel building in Brigg Market Place, in the run up to Remembrance Day and Remembrance Sunday 2019.
Last year's Poppy Cascade display marked the 100th anniversary of the guns falling silent during the First World War in November 1918.
In case you were wondering, one of the Angel carving's wings came adrift during windy weather many weeks ago and has yet to be put back or replaced. Hopefully it won't be long before this is resolved.
Remembrance Sunday 2019 is on November 10, with Remembrance Day, as ever, on the 11th day of the 11th month - the armistice coming into force at 11am.
The first Armistice Day commemorations were at Buckingham Palace on November 11, 1919 - so the 100th anniversary is coming up shortly.
Brigg Blog will be posting full details of the town's Remembrance Sunday parade, church service and wreath-laying at the Monument war memorial later this week.

Have you bought your poppy yet?  Stephen Harris has kindly provided this recent picture which prompts the question.  Poppies are available at various outlets and volunteers are also going door to door in some areas, which is how we obtained ours for 2019 by way of a donation. Please given generously.
