Sports fans in Brigg who fancy watching some live midweek football - rather than games served up on TV - have an opportunity coming upon tonight (Wednesday, November 13).
Brigg Town will be playing Barnetby United in a Hett Cup tie at the EC Surfacing Stadium (The Hawthorns) with a 7pm kick-off.
This is a very rare local derby indeed between these historic clubs (see Lee Fielden's comments below).
Admission is by £1 programme on sale at the ground on the night and all proceeds raised will go to local charities. The licensed Hawthorns clubhouse will be open.
Initial ties are being played on Wednesday evenings at this venue throughout this month.
The first game of the 2019/2020 Hett Cup was played last Wednesday (November 6) and saw AFC Brigg beat Briggensians 2-1. The organisers raised £174 through donations, a raffle, programme sales and the collection tin.

United's Lee Fielden, who has researched a great deal of information about his club's history, has provided Brigg Blog with an extract relating to "The last Barnetby United side to face Brigg Town - selected at the committee meeting on December 17th 1945."
Lee adds: "Brigg Town ran out 7-2 winners in this 2nd round tie of the Lincs FA Benevolent Cup and would go on to lift the trophy. D. Dale and H. Cook were Barnetby’s scorers that day."
Tonight - for the first time in almost 74 years - Brigg and Barnetby will face each other again - in the first round of this season's Hett Cup.
Lee says raffle tickets will be on sale in the clubhouse which is open for the game; the raffle will be drawn at full-time.
"All proceeds, as in the past, will be passed on to to local charities at the conclusion of the cup," he adds.
