BRIGG MIGHT LIKE TO MARK V.E. DAY MILESTONE WITH AN EVENT LIKE THIS

How is Brigg going to mark the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe after the German surrender in the Second World War?
Here's one suggestion for a suitable event in May 2020 - a sit-down dinner with war-time favourite stew on the menu and 1940s musical entertainment.
These pictures show such a themed event  at the Angel Suite in November 2010. It was very well attended and  enjoyed by those who booked places.
At a future meeting, Brigg Town Council will consider how the town might celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE Day.
Whether anything will follow next August on the 75th anniversary of VJ Day (Victory over Japan in the Far East) remains to be seen.
August also saw the end of World War Two, although rationing and a period of austerity followed as Britain continued to pay for the cost of the conflict.
