FUNDING GIVEN TO BRIGG CHRISTMAS MEAL FOR PEOPLE LIVING ON THEIR OWN

Brigg Town Council has now agreed a £342 grant to help meet the cost of staging a communal Christmas meal in the Angel Suite for about 90 people who would otherwise be on their own during the festive season.
The dinner will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2019. Details of how to apply for places will be announced nearer the time, and we'll keep you posted!
Brigg Angels Women's Institute is working alongside other community groups so local folk can have a Christmas celebration, including a hot meal, entertainment and a festive present.
The event is aimed at Brigg residents who do not have the opportunity to spend Christmas with family and friends.
At the latest meeting of Brigg Town Council while the grant application from the organisers was being considered, Coun Rob Waltham said this festive even was really valued.
Deputy Town Mayor Coun Brian Parker added: "It needs supporting."
Glanford and Scunthorpe Canoe Club applied for a £250 grant, which was agreed by councillors. Coun Ann Eardley said this organisation did excellent work on behalf of young people in the town.
