HEAVY RAIN FAILS TO DETER BRIGG TREE OF LIGHT DEDICATION

It was a case of presenting umbrellas during the opening dedication of the Brigg Tree of Light during Saturday afternoon (November 16).
Brigg Blog being out of town on Saturday, our thanks go to Ken Harrison, of Brigg Matters magazine, for this report and accompanying pictures from an event we would otherwise have attended.
Despite the heavy downpour quite a large crowd attended the service in Chapel Court, which was jointly officiated by Father Owain Mitchell, from St John's Church, and Methodist minister, the Rev Peter Thomas.
This is the fifth year of Brigg's Tree of Light, which has been organised by the Brigg Town Business Partnership, and it was attended by Brigg Town Mayor, Cllr Sharon Riggall, and her escort - husband Martin.
It was a poignant occasion for Sharon and Martin as his father, Ralph, died recently.  Ralph, the brother of Brian, of Brian's DIY, was Wrawby's postmaster and proprietor of the village general store.
Following the dedication, those attended had the opportunity to attach their Memory Cards to the tree.
The Tree of Light will remain in place until Saturday, January 4th, 2020.
Cards are available from Design Orchard, E-Cig, Cure DM, Brigg Carers' Centre - Redcombe Lane, St John's Church, Brigg Methodist Church, The Deli Diner, Co-Op Funeralcare, Naylor#s Funeral Directors and Brigg Tourist Information Centre.
In addition, a Book of Remembrance will be located at the Tourist Information Centre.
Proceeds from the Tree of Light will be donated equally to the Brigg Carers' Support Centre and the Congenital Myotonic Dystrophy Fight.
