Brigg Blog's recent post about the sad theft of the memorial plaque fom Holland Park, near the railway station, has prompted a renewed call for a CCTV camera in this area.
There used to be one high up on North Lincolnshire Council's Hewson House offices which offered a view along Station Road as far as the railway.
Reports of fly-tipping and anti-social behaviour over many months have prompted the campaigning Independent Brigg Line Rail Group to suggest on several occasions, over a lengthy period, that the local authority should restore 'eye in the sky' surveillance in this part of town.
In the light of the Holland Park theft, the IGLRG has repeated its call.
Whether such a camera would have provided any useful footage in this case is uncertain.
However, with the council (to its credit) now making fresh efforts to find an operator for the long-closed former Stennett's auction, a CCTV camera on Station Road might offer improved assurance to the new tenant, as the auction building could be under surveillance 24/7, including Thursdays when sales are held.
In addition, the rail group points out: "The camera would also provide security for customers travelling to/from the railway station."
